The Fire Cat Expedition: Singalila National Park

Deep within the mist-shrouded rhododendron forests of the Singalila Ridge, a crimson legend moves in silence. Join us on an exclusive expedition to Singalila National Park, one of the few places on Earth where the elusive Red Panda roams wild. Straddling the border of India and Nepal, this high-altitude sanctuary (7,000–12,000 ft) offers more than just a wildlife tour—it is a journey into the clouds. Here, amidst ancient bamboo groves and moss-laden oaks, we track the Fire Cats and witness a spectacular avian display against the backdrop of the worlds highest peaks, including the majestic Kanchenjunga and Mount Everest. The Red Panda Quest: A Game of Patience and Reward The Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens) is the crown jewel of the Eastern Himalayas. Shy, solitary, and incredibly camouflaged, spotting one requires expert knowledge and patience. Our expedition is led by seasoned local trackers who know the forest’s pulse. We venture out at dawn, scanning the canopy for the tell-tale rustle of bamboo or a flash of russet fur. The Encounter: Witnessing a Red Panda in its natural habitat is a moment of pure magic. Watch them forage for bamboo shoots, sunbathe on mossy branches, or navigate the canopy with acrobatic grace. This tour is designed for photographers. We prioritize ethically close encounters, allowing you enough time to capture the perfect shot of the panda in its dreamlike, misty habitat. Birdwatching on the Ridge- While the Red Panda is the star, the supporting cast is equally breathtaking. Singalila is a designated Important Bird Area, boasting over 300 species of high-altitude birds.
